WinAPRS readme

January 26, 1996	Version 0.2.0	Public beta release

SERIAL I/O under Windows 3.1 still does NOT work, it will be fixed as
soon as I can

get it to work. Windows 3.1 users, please use the FILE OPEN command and
open the

"APRS.LOG". This will give you something to play with.

Beta releases

All versions released before May 1, 1996 will have a built in expiration
date. This

is to prevent old copies from hanging around too long. Once the final
version is ready

to go, the expiration date will be removed from the program.

WinAPRS is written to the Win32 API, this means that it works under

WindowsNT and Windows95. To run under Windows 3.1, you will need the

Win32S library (DLL). It has been tested (not extensively) under Win3.1

with Win32S. If you do not have Win32S installed, WinAPRS will NOT run.

Installation.

Provided is a ZIP file, it should unzip properly, to unzip it,

            pkunzip -d WinAPRS.ZIP

If it does not create the directories properly, they should be set up as
follows:

        WinAPRS (Directory)

                WinAPRS.exe

                WinAPRS.cfg

                MAPS <directory>

all of the Maps provided and any you want to add

It must be set up as above, if you put too many maps in the map folder,

you will not be able to access them all from the menu. You can access them

from the Map List Window

To run WinAPRS,

Once you have set your .cfg file, run WinAPRS and go to the Settings menu

and select OPEN TNC.

Thats it, play with the menus and have fun.

Rules,

Rule 1: Read the "Known bugs" in Revison.txt first!!!!!

Rule 2: Please only report MAJOR PROBLEMS. I do NOT want anything like

"on this screen, that doesn't look right". This will be a beta version and

there are LOTS of things that will need cleaning up. When we get closer

to Dayton and I have released a few updates, then I will be looking for

more detailed problems, but by then, most of them will have gone away.

Please refer to Revision.txt for updates and known bugs.
